Another thing you have to do is develop a routine for going to bed and waking up. Changes in your schedule throw your body and mind out of whack, and that could increase issues with your chronic insomnia. Know when you need to go to bed and when you need to wake up. You might maintain a certain regimen before bed as well, just to keep the consistency. Do not eat any heavy foods right before beds, and also avoid anything that may upset your stomach. The last thing you need is a bad case of gas when you’re trying to fall asleep.
You need to make your naps less than 15 minutes if you take any throughout the day. This gives you just enough of a boost to get going again, and it doesn’t impact your night time routine much. Oversleeping during the day will only cause you to toss and turn a night. Some sleep disorders do work well with naps though, so it is advised that you check with your doctor o see where your insomnia fits into the mix. Just try to stay calm at all times and free your mind and body of any stress right before you go to bed.
